good charlotte, “it’s good to be back”

The crowd went super ecstatic as Good Charlotte guitarist Joel Madden declared onstage “I am so moving to the Philippines”. Personally I’m not sure if the man was serious or not, but you can sense he means it. After all, this is the second time the acclaimed pop-punk band found themselves in our part of the world. Though they ditched the neck ties and the eye liners, the reception is as astounding as the first time.

After more than ten years of performing for the music industry, Good Charlotte members Paul Thomas (Bass), Joel Madden (Vocals), Benji Madden (Guitar and Vocals), Dean Butterworth (Drums), and Billy Martin (Guitar and Keyboard) have provided memorable hits such as “The Anthem”, “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”, “Hold On”, “Girls and Boys”, and “Keep Your Hands Off My Girl” – and now they’re bound to do it again though the album latest release of “Cardiology”. Good Charlotte says that this album was very much inspired from their hearts and at the same time is very different from their previous albums. Going back to sounds to where they all began, fans can expect this album to have a fresher sound and more focused on the heart and soul of rock and roll instead of the usual pop music sound. Today, Cardiology has been recognized to be the best album that Good Charlotte has produced so far.

Known for the pop-punk style, Good Charlotte has had the honor to win Best Rock Video for “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” for various awarding ceremonies. Inspiring so many fans all over the world, Good Charlotte truly has made a name for them and is a force to reckon in the rock and rock world. And their recent live show was a testament to it. With hundred of fans flocking the concert last April 8, it reassures how much the Pinoys are into the band. From the deafening screams to collective cheers of excitement to the continuous clicking of camera flashes, the local fans were as energetic as the boys onstage. Singing along to a robust set composed of old favorites and new tracks, it certainly was an explosive show in Glorietta.

In a press conference held a day before the concert, the boys of Good Charlotte were very much keen and appreciative of the success they were getting. In fact, Joel was very much vocal into saying “We want to continue making music we love, push the limits and inspire other kids to start a band and write their own songs.” The band also said described how it humbles them coming from a small town and now elevated to playing in different places all over the world. “It’s just overwhelming”, Joel says with a smile. But who knows in the future, the band member might just decide to make Manila his permanent place.
